Position Title: 8th Grade Science Teacher - Long Term Substitute

Location: Shapleigh School

Reports To: Shapleigh Principal

Position Start Date: November 2 - December 23, 2026 (anticipated)

Required Certification: Maine Middle Level Science (340), Maine High School Life Science (395), Maine Elementary Educator (020) or certifiable in the State of Maine

The Kittery School District is currently seeking a highly qualified, certified Science teacher to join our 8th grade team at Shapleigh School as a long term substitute. The position is anticipated to start on November 2 and end on December 23rd.

The ideal candidate for this position will hold a valid Maine certification in Science or be certifiable in the State of Maine, have experience teaching in a Proficiency Based Learning system, and be able to effectively communicate and collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary teaching team.

You must be able to pass a background test through the State of Maine Education Department.

Salary: Long Term Sub rate for a Maine Certified Teacher $29.10/hour.
