Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Long Term Substitute Elementary Teacher (K-6) to provide differentiated instruction from mid September through early January in a 10-month certified position.

You will foster a positive classroom climate, assess student progress, and collaborate with the Building Principal and staff to meet learning goals. Illinois licensure is required; foreign language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Self Contained General Education K-9 or Self Contained Birth-Grade3 Endorsement
• Completed/submitted online application to include resume and letters of recommendation
• Ability to work as a team member
• Must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License or other License as required
• Past experience teaching the specific class will be considered first; recent coursework or student teaching in the subject will also be considered
• The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content and learning standards
• Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
• Utilize instructional management systems that maximize student learning
• Differentiate instruction and monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals
• Plans and supervises assignments for assistants and volunteers
• Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships
• Meet professional responsibilities as outlined in the Staff Handbook
• Continue to seek professional development opportunities as required by the State for license renewal
• Maintain professional work habits
• Communicate effectively within the educational community
• Maintain your Professional Educator License as required by law
