Job Description

We are seeking an associate attorney to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to clients navigating the complexities of Medicaid eligibility, long-term care planning, and special needs planning. You will work closely with clients to design Medicaid qualification plans, represent them in administrative hearings, and ensure that all aspects of their legal needs are addressed in compliance with state and federal regulations.

This position requires strong legal knowledge in Medicaid law, but we are also open to training candidates with a solid foundation in elder law or related fields. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, compassionate attorney with the ability to balance client needs with the demands of a busy practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel to clients on Medicaid eligibility, long-term care planning, and related issues
  • Design and implement Medicaid qualification plans in collaboration with clients and paralegals
  • Prepare and submit Medicaid applications, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings and appeals, advocating for their eligibility with Medicaid benefits
  • Liaise with Job and Family Services (JFS) and other agencies to resolve issues related to Medicaid applications and eligibility
  • Keep clients informed about the status of their cases and educate them on available options
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and team members to address complex legal challenges
  • Stay current with changes in Medicaid regulations, case law, and state policies
  • Maintain thorough documentation of client file and case updates

Preferred Experience (but not required to apply)

  • Experience in Medicaid planning, elder law, special needs planning, estate planning, or long-term care law
  • Familiarity with JFS processes and Medicaid eligibility is a plus
  • Admission to the Ohio Bar is required
