Job summary

Munson Healthcare in Grayling, MI is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to support residents and work with nursing staff to deliver daily care.

You will assist with activities of daily living, document care, monitor resident wellbeing, and ensure safety during transfers and meals, in a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• CNA certification in good standing or state-approved training.
• Current CPR/BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting.
• Coordinates dining room services at mealtimes, including set-up, delivery, and documentation of meal intake.

• Tracks weight and reports changes to nurse/supervisor; documents weight changes.
• Assists with skin condition monitoring and reports issues to nurse/supervisor.
• Assists with toileting program activities and documents progress.
• Completes flow sheets daily to indicate task completion and resident progress.

Job Description

A Day in the Life

• Provides supportive services to nurse(s) and other staff as needed and performs duties as assigned.
• Assists resident with or perform activities of daily living for residents in accordance with care plans and established policies and procedures.
• Assists resident with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
• Coordinates dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including set-up and clean-up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
• Delivers nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provides assistance as necessary to ensure intake. Documents intake accordingly.
• Assists with weighing residents according to facility policy, and records weight in designated locations. Reports weight changes to nurse and supervisor.
• Assists with tracking the condition of the resident’s skin. Reports any presence of pressure areas, skin breakdown or skin tears to nurse and supervisor.
• Assists nursing staff in carrying out toileting program activities.
• Completes flow sheets daily to indicate that the specified task was done. Documents the progress of each resident as directed by supervisor.
• Keeps nurse and supervisor informed of factors that interfere with being able to perform the work as assigned (i.e. resident refusal, reassigned to nursing unit).
• Reports change in a resident’s condition to the resident’s nurse and supervisor.

Qualifications

What’s Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the State of Michigan, or completion of a State-approved training program one (1) month of hire and certification acquired within 4 months of hire as required by the state.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.

Additional Information

Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
