Job summary

Glastonbury Public Schools is seeking a knowledgeable Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Agriscience at Glastonbury High School. The role supports continuity of learning across classroom and lab/shop environments, delivering instruction in Agricultural Mechanics, Animal Science, and Foundations of Agriscience.

The ideal candidate holds CT Certification and CT endorsements in Agriculture, PreK-12 or Vocational Agriculture, 7-12, and will collaborate with a team of AgriScience educators to maintain

Qualifications

• CT Certification required.
• CT Teaching Endorsement 040 - Agriculture, PreK-12 (or) CT Teaching Endorsement 041 - Vocational Agriculture, 7-12.

Responsibilities

• Teach Agriscience courses in accordance with state, national and local standards.
• Implement existing curriculum and lesson plans aligned to program expectations.
• Deliver hands-on, experiential learning in classroom and lab/shop settings.
• Supervise and ensure safe use of tools, equipment, and facilities in agricultural mechanics settings.
• Facilitate student learning in animal systems, basic agricultural principles, and applied mechanical skills.
• Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
• Communicate with students, families, and staff to support student success.
• Uphold school and district policies, including safety protocols for agricultural education environments.
