Overview

Amazon is seeking a logistics professional for our Amazon Web Services Team in the Columbus, OH area.

Logistics Specialists monitor inventory levels to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained to support build and repair activities in our warehouse and data centers. They process inbound and outbound shipments, verify inventory, conduct cycle counts, manage an Inventory Management System and own chain-of-custody processes for Data Center Technicians and Engineers. They will also be responsible for transporting parts between different locations operating sprinter vans, trucks, or various powered equipment (i.e., forklift or electric pallet jack). Specialists should be comfortable and willing to regularly drive a variety of motorized vehicles, including box trucks up to 26 feet in length.

Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older. Candidate must hold a valid state-appropriate driver’s license, be able to obtain their Driver Qualification File (DQF) and/or a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Candidate must obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card and be eligible to drive in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.

Key responsibilities
  • Receive parts, maintain inventory, and check-out parts as needed to Data Center Technicians and Engineers
  • Load and unload shipments and transport parts, racks, and equipment between different locations, including localized driving of a variety of transportation vehicles
  • Attend company provided forklift operator training
  • Complete company provided training in driving box trucks up to 26’ in length
  • Handle sensitive/classified materials
  • Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally work is in an office environment
  • Work overtime as required
Physical and safety requirements
  • Lift loads of up to 40 pounds and carry them for short distances
  • Participate in group lifts of 41 pounds or more
  • Frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
  • Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment
  • Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance
  • Push or pull heavy objects into position
  • Work in a noisy environment
  • Stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time
Requirements and qualifications
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
  • Minimum of 1 year of logistics experience, preferably in a warehouse environment
  • Minimum of 1 year experience driving box trucks up to 26 feet in length and operating a forklift (or similar powered lifting equipment)
  • Experience using a computerized Inventory Management System (IMS)
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong understanding of shipping & receiving, inventory and warehousing practices
  • Ability to demonstrate process improvement and operational efficiencies
  • Must be a US citizen and possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
