Job summary

Culligan International is seeking a Logistics Planner in Libertyville, IL to coordinate domestic and international transportation, build accurate cost estimates, and ensure import/export compliance. You will book shipments, manage documentation, and partner with customers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure on-time, cost-efficient delivery.

The role requires 2+ years in logistics or supply chain, knowledge of HTS/Incoterms, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation planning, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with HTS classification, Incoterms, and export compliance preferred.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills to interpret data and support decisions.
  • Knowledge of domestic TL/PTL/LTL and international freight processes.
  • Experience preparing import/export documentation with customs brokers.
  • Strong ability to create accurate cost estimates.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and book domestic TL, specialized equipment, and PTL shipments.
  • Measure equipment and determine required gear.
  • Coordinate domestic milk-runs and pool points.
  • Coordinate international air and ocean shipments with forwarders.
  • Monitor shipment status and resolve delays.
  • Optimize routing, carriers, and transport modes for cost/service.
  • Prepare transportation cost estimates for domestic and international shipments.
  • Analyze freight rates and carrier performance for savings.
  • Prepare and manage export documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and EAR/ITAR.
  • Maintain records for audits and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align logistics with needs.
  • Communicate shipment requirements to partners.
  • Support continuous improvement in logistics processes.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job description

The Logistics Planner is responsible for coordinating and executing domestic and international transportation activities, developing accurate cost estimates, and ensuring full compliance with import/export regulations. This role supports daily logistics operations at our plant by booking shipments, managing documentation, and collaborating with internal teams, customers, carriers, domestic 3PL partners and freight forwarders to ensure on time, cost effective delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and book domestic TL (Truckload), Specialized Equipment, and PTL (Partial Truckload) shipments.
  • Measure equipment to ship & determine required equipment.
  • Support and facilitate domestic milk-runs and pool points.
  • Coordinate international air and ocean shipments, including communication with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
  • Monitor import & domestic shipment status, proactively resolve delays, and provide updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Optimize routing, carrier selection, and mode of transport to balance cost and service.
  • Prepare accurate transportation cost estimates for domestic and international shipments.
  • Analyze freight rates, accessorial charges, and carrier performance to support cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Prepare, review, and manage all export documentation, including:
    • Commercial invoices
    • Packing lists
    • Bills of lading
    • Certificates of origin
    • AES filings
    • Customs declarations
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs, EAR/ITAR, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Production teams to align logistics activities with business needs.
  • Communicate shipment requirements and timelines to internal and external partners.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in logistics processes and systems.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation planning, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with HTS classification, Incoterms, and export compliance preferred.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills to interpret data and support decisions.

Target Salary Range: $55,000 – $75,000 salary a year. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for competitive benefits, including paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, disability benefits and 401(k).
