Job summary

Cascades is seeking a Logistics Operations Director in Ashland to lead site logistics, mentor a large team, and drive efficiency. You will develop processes, KPIs, and budgets while ensuring regulatory compliance and collaboration with production, accounting, and COE teams to optimize product delivery and inventory controls.

The role requires strong leadership, manufacturing logistics experience, and proficiency with ERP systems like SAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in logistics or related field.
• Experience in logistics management, preferably in manufacturing or similar sector.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge desirable.
• Ability to meet deadlines with high accuracy and efficiency.
• Demonstrated leadership with 50+ staff management.
• Railcar logistics transportation knowledge a definite asset.
• Proficient with logistics software, ERP systems such as SAP.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all aspects of site logistics and ensure compliant operations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop logistics personnel to foster excellence and continuous improvement.
• Develop, implement, and maintain logistics processes, SOPs and department KPIs.
• Monitor logistics performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Prepare, manage and monitor the logistics budget for cost-effective operations.
• Collaborate with Production and Accounting to ensure timely delivery of finished products.
• Liaise with Supply Chain Planning and COE to coordinate efforts.
• Partner with suppliers and internal departments to streamline workflows.
• Ensure inventory accuracy and optimize raw material levels with regular inventories and forecasts.

Your Role

As Logistics Operations Director, you’ll take on real challenges that bring out your full potential.
Your scope includes:

• Manage and oversee all aspects of site logistics, ensuring efficient operations in compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations
• Lead, mentor, and develop logistics personnel, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
• Develop, implement, and maintain logistics processes, standard operating procedures and department KPIs while ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations
• Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics, identifying and driving areas for continuous improvement
• Prepare, manage, and monitor the logistics budget, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality or timelines
• Collaborate with Production and Accounting teams to support seamless operations, ensure timely delivery of finished products, and achieve key product life cycle accounting metrics
• Act as a liaison with the corporate Supply Chain Planning and Fulfillment Center of Excellence (COE), fostering strong team-based coordination
• Partner with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency
• Ensure inventory accuracy and optimize raw material levels by supporting with regular physical inventories, and preparing budgets and forecasts accordingly

What you bring

You're a natural fit for Logistics Operations Director if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
• Significant experience in logistics management, preferably within the manufacturing industry or a similar sector
• Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles is highly desirable
• Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in managing, mentoring and coaching a larger team(50+)
• Understanding of railcar logistic transportation is a definite asset
• Proficiency with logistics software, tools, and ERP systems such as SAP
• Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
