Job summary

Velociti seeks an experienced Logistics Manager for a data center construction project in Abilene, TX. You will own material flow, coordinate with PMs and site teams, and ensure critical materials are available when needed to keep the project on schedule.

This hands-on leadership role requires 5+ years in construction logistics, OFCI familiarity, and proficiency with inventory systems and Excel. Expect a fast-paced, safety‑driven work environment with tight coordination across crews.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in construction logistics or site material management.
  • Experience on data center or mission-critical projects is preferred.
  • Direct experience managing OFCI material flows is a major plus.
  • Familiarity with telecom, fiber optic, or structured cabling materials is preferred.
  • Proficiency with inventory tracking systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise material handlers in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive mindset to identify problems and keep materials and people moving.

Responsibilities

  • Order OFCI (Owner-Furnished, Contractor-Installed) materials from the customer warehouse based on the installation schedule.
  • Coordinate material release timing with the Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure crews have what they need without overloading the site.
  • Track open orders, backorders, and shortages and proactively escape anything that could impact the schedule.
  • Support procurement of CFCI (Contractor-Furnished, Contractor-Installed) materials and coordinate vendor deliveries.
  • Receive and verify inbound deliveries against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Inspect materials for damage, defects, and shortages and coordinate claims or replacement requests when needed.
  • Maintain real-time inventory of materials across receiving, staging, and issued locations.
  • Perform cycle counts and inventory reconciliations to maintain accuracy.
  • Manage laydown yards, conex storage, and staging areas to ensure materials remain organized, secure, and accessible.
  • Control material releases to active work areas to minimize congestion, loss, and unnecessary movement.
  • Track material consumption against installed quantities and identify and report variances.
  • Deliver materials directly to installation crews at the point of use across data halls and active work fronts.
  • Coordinate daily with the Superintendent, Foremen, and Installation Leads to anticipate upcoming material needs.
  • Safely operate and oversee the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, telehandlers, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Manage material returns, surplus, and demobilization during project closeout.
  • Supervise, schedule, and hold material handler staff accountable for daily responsibilities.
  • Serve as a key logistics partner to the Project Manager, Superintendent, customer logistics team, and field leadership.
  • Maintain high standards for safety, organization, and housekeeping across all storage and material-handling areas.
  • Provide consistent material status updates and identify potential issues before they become schedule impacts.

We're looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to take ownership of material flow and site logistics for a fast-paced data center construction project in Abilene, TX.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands that successful construction starts with having the right materials, in the right place, at the right time. You'll work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, installation teams, customer logistics teams, vendors, and material handlers to keep materials moving efficiently and the project on schedule.

What You'll Own
Material Ordering & Procurement
  • Order OFCI (Owner-Furnished, Contractor-Installed) materials from the customer warehouse based on the installation schedule.
  • Coordinate material release timing with the Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure crews have what they need without overloading the site.

Receiving & Inspection

  • Ensure accurate chain-of-custody documentation and receiving records for project audits and turnover.

  • Maintain real-time inventory of materials across receiving, staging, and issued locations.
  • Perform cycle counts and inventory reconciliations to maintain accuracy.
  • Manage laydown yards, conex storage, and staging areas to ensure materials remain organized, secure, and accessible.
