Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Brooklyn Park, MN, is seeking a Logistics Engineer to manage inbound and outbound material flow and ensure timely, safe delivery to POU.

You will design storage and POU layouts, procure equipment, and plan workforce and equipment, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain functions. The successful candidate will have a background in supply chain or logistics, experience with CPS and SAP, and the ability to analyze data, solve problems, and deliver

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in Supply Chain / Logistics or Transportation Management preferred.
  • Material distribution & material handling equipment experience.
  • Working understanding of materials systems and interrelations.
  • Knowledge of CPS (Caterpillar Production System) and SAP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound and outbound material flow for timely and efficient movement to activity points along the material flow path.
  • Ensure material is received, stored, or delivered safely and efficiently to Point-of-Use (POU).
  • Design warehouse storage and POU, procure machinery and equipment, and plan workforce and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing operations, and supply chain to define parameters and develop control/improvement plans.
  • Perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and optimize logistics processes.
  • Coordinate with team members across shop and office environments.

Caterpillar is seeking a Logistics Engineer in Brooklyn Park, MN.

In this role, you will manage inbound and outbound material flow to ensure the timely and efficient movement of material to activity points along the material flow path. You will perform activities to ensure material is received, stored, or delivered safely and efficiently to POU (Point-of-Use).

  • Warehouse storage design & manufacturing point-of-use (POU) design
  • Machinery & equipment design and procurement
  • Workforce & equipment planning
  • Coordinating with engineering, manufacturing operations, and supply chain functions to define critical parameters and develop plans for process control and improvements.
  • Inventory transfer & rearrangement planning.
  • Maintaining the internal logistics process engineering standards, knowledge, and tools; Assuring their implementation in current and new operations
  • Evaluating logistics processes and workflows, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions for process-related concerns
  • Collaborating with team members both within and outside of supply chain in shop & office environments

  • Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.
  • Service Excellence: Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and/or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in Supply Chain / Logistics or Transportation Management
  • Material distribution & material handling equipment experience
  • Working understanding of the various materials systems and how they interrelate
  • Knowledge of CPS (Caterpillar Production System) SAP experience

Summary Pay Range: $89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
