Job summary

BackStretch seeks a sharp Logistics Operations Analyst to uncover and prevent avoidable transportation costs across the intermodal network. You will dig into data from multiple systems, investigate cost drivers, and turn findings into actionable insights while flagging issues to the right teams.

You’ll develop processes that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and Carrier partners to implement solutions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in analytics, transportation, logistics, supply chain, finance, or operations.
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
• Naturally curious with a knack for spotting things that don't add up.
• Able to move beyond reporting to understand why the numbers look the way they do.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze transportation and equipment data to identify anomalies, trends, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Investigate issues such as equipment dwell, free-time exposure, accessorial charges, and billing discrepancies.
• Reconcile data across our TMS, rail systems, billing platforms, and other sources.
• Partner with Operations, Procurement, Customer teams, and carriers to identify solutions.
• Develop reporting, SOPs, and processes that improve visibility and reduce avoidable costs.
• Track and communicate the impact of your recommendations and cost-avoidance initiatives.
