Caterpillar Inc. in Athens, GA is seeking a Logistic Coordinator II to join the Building Construction Products division.

You will work independently and with teams to maintain and improve engineering and logistical processes, support SAP workflows, and collaborate across Safety, Quality, and Operations. This role demands problem-solving, cost-reduction focus, and the ability to liaise with suppliers and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Planner, Project, etc.).
  • Successful completion of Caterpillar Non-Management Selection Process 2 Yr Degree or equivalent or 2 yrs of related experience in Materials Operations, Packaging or Planning.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with suppliers on packaging forms and approved shipping methods.
  • Collaborate with multiple plant departments on safety, quality issues, and RCCA changes to packaging.
  • Develop and maintain processes, tooling, and equipment for logistics and packaging requirements.
  • Ensure SAP processes are within standard across operations.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day process issues and drive cost-reduction improvements.
  • Provide cross-shift support to production as needed.

As a Logistic Coordinator II with the Building Construction Products (BCP) division in Athens, GA you will work independently and on teams to perform duties to maintain and improve engineering processes in an operations environment. This position is in the Athens logistics department. The logistics department is actively involved in automation projects to decrease cost at the Athens facility.

What you can look forward to doing in this role:
  • Working with suppliers on getting current packaging forms, and confirming suppliers are shipping in the approved method
  • Working with multiple departments within the plant for Safety, Quality issues and doing RCCA on issues, along with change request to packaging from the plant or suppliers
  • Develop and maintain the processes, tooling, and equipment needed for logistics and packaging requirements.
  • Engage actively with operations to ensure processes within SAP are within standard.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day process issues, develop solutions, and monitor improvements.
  • Respond to customer issues and lead process improvements to reduce cost
  • Estimating costs for Repairs, equipment, materials, and installation as a basis for determining the feasibility of alternatives and return on investment.
  • Collaborate and participate in multifunctional teams.
  • Provide cross shift support as necessary to support production.
  • Work with vendors to purchase needed equipment for process improvements or logistical changes. Providing design information, reviewing, and approving proposals and serving as the primary company contact.
  • Supervising work of outside contractors.
  • Creating technical specifications and functions requirements for facilities related projects.
  • Periodic reporting on standard operating measures
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, SharePoint, Teams, Planner, Project, etc.)
  • Successful completion of Caterpillar Non-Management Selection Process 2 Yr Degree or equivalent (Current enrollment in an accredited 4 yr college degree program at a Junior level status is considered equivalent to a 2 year degree.) or 2 yrs of related experience in Materials Operations, Packaging or Planning
Physical requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
  • Willing and able to sit or stand for prolonged periods
  • Willing and able to perform repetitive operations
  • Willing and able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Willing and able to drive material handling equipment
Top Candidates for this position may also have:
  • 1 to 3 years of industrial, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, project, or related technical experience. Can include internship, co-op, apprentices, military service, or similar programs.
  • Strong Project Management Skills
  • SAP Experience
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain engineering drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting and root cause analysis on day-to-day problems
  • Able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate and have basic knowledge of functions performed by the skilled-trades personnel.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing (Green belt).

Summary Pay Range:

$28.05 - $35.09
