Job summary

Koch Fertilizer in Wever, Iowa is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to support safe, efficient movement of product through storage and loading operations.

You will act as a link between drivers, logistics systems, and site operations, ensuring shipping activities run smoothly with a strong focus on safety and compliance. The role includes a rotating 12-hour day shift and occasional coverage for others, with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience performing administrative support activities such as data entry, recordkeeping, document management, and report preparation.
• Willing and able to meet the physical requirements of the role: work outdoors in all weather conditions, lift up to 50 pounds, wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Support shipping and loading operations with administrative, logistical, and operational duties to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient product movement.
• Serve as a primary contact for drivers, carriers, and internal stakeholders with professional service and timely communication.
• Assist the Shipping Supervisor with projects and initiatives supporting operational improvements and business goals.
• Maintain electronic and manual filing systems, records, and shipping documentation to support compliance and efficiency.
• Monitor terminal activities, maintain orders, and process data using logistics and terminal management systems.
• Identify operational issues, assist with root-cause analysis, and collaborate to implement improvements.
• Support driver check-in by maintaining records, processing carrier information, and ensuring documentation is complete.
• Prepare, distribute, and maintain shipping documents such as bills of lading and loading check sheets.
• Promote safety by following procedures and supporting safe loading and storage activities.

Your Job

Koch Fertilizer is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join our Operations team in Wever, Iowa. In this role, you will support the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of product through our storage and loading operations. Acting as a key link between drivers, logistics systems, and site operations, you will help ensure shipping activities run smoothly while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

The Logistics Coordinator works a rotating 12-hour day shift schedule (4 days on, 5 days off, 5 days on, etc). This role will occasionally help cover team members who are on leave or vacation and may include a combination of day and night shifts. This position will also respond to callouts and work overtime as needed.

What You Will Do

• Support shipping and loading operations by providing administrative, logistical, and operational support to ensure products are loaded and shipped safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers, carriers, and internal stakeholders by providing professional customer service and timely communication.
• Assist the Shipping Supervisor with projects and initiatives that support operational improvements and business objectives.
• Manage and maintain electronic and manual filing systems, operational records, and shipping documentation to support compliance and efficient business operations.
• Monitor terminal and loading activities, maintain orders, and process operational data using company logistics and terminal management systems.
• Identify operational issues, assist with root cause analysis, and collaborate with team members to implement effective solutions and process improvements.
• Support driver check-in activities by maintaining driver and trailer records, processing carrier information, and ensuring required documentation is complete and accurate.
• Prepare, distribute, and maintain shipping documents, including bills of lading, inspection reports, loading check sheets, and other transportation records.
• Promote a culture of safety by following established safety procedures and supporting safe, efficient loading and storage activities.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience performing administrative support activities such as data entry, recordkeeping, document management, and report preparation.
• Willing and able to meet the physical requirements of the role:
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear industrial chemical plant uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Customer service experience
• Experience supporting shipping, logistics, terminal, storage, or loading operations.
• Experience working in an industrial manufacturing, agricultural, chemical, or fertilizer environment.
• Knowledge of transportation, environmental, or regulatory compliance requirements related to shipping and loading activities.
• Experience using logistics, transportation, or terminal management systems.
