Overview
Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy. Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock. Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials. Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, defects, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
Responsibilities
- Prepares shipments for conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery
- Checks items to be shipped against request to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct
- Maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous improvement objectives, and safety and environmental standards
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

- Ability to support a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks
- Ability to develop and implement organizational changes as required to meet a changing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Proficient use of MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience
