Job summary

AAS Healthcare Company seeks a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a 3-month locum tenens at a rural Critical Access Hospital on a small island. You will provide overnight ED coverage for all ages and collaborate with nursing staff in a community setting with limited specialty support.

Epic is used for documentation; about 13,000 annual ED visits and 20–24 patients per day on average. Shifts are 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, roughly 10–13 shifts per month.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a broad range of emergency conditions and injuries.
• Provide emergency care to adult and pediatric patients.
• Stabilize patients and determine treatment, disposition, transfers, or admissions.
• Practice independently within the scope of emergency medicine in a community hospital with limited on-site specialty support.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic.

The physician will provide overnight emergency department coverage for patients of all ages, including pediatric patients.

Compensation: $240 - $250 Per Hour

Schedule & Practice Details

• Shift Hours: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Shift Commitment: Approximately 10–13 shifts per month
• Assignment Duration: 3 months
• Practice Setting: Critical Access Hospital
• Emergency Department Beds: 25
• Annual ED Volume: Approximately 13,000 visits
• Average Daily Census: 20–24 patients
• Patient Volume: Approximately 2.5–3 patients per hour
• Patient Population: All ages, with approximately 14% pediatric volume
• EMR: Epic
• Specialty Support: Limited on-site specialty coverage
