Curative is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Surgeon for locum coverage in Texas. The role covers general adult cardiac and thoracic procedures, including CABG and standard lung biopsies, with APP support for post-operative rounds.

Shifts include 24-hour on-call coverage with stay-at-home or hotel accommodations and a 30-minute response time. Typical need is 5–12 shifts per month, beginning early November 2026.

Qualifications

• Must be MD or DO with Texas license and DEA for practice.
• Board Certification in Cardiovascular or Thoracic Surgery or Board Eligible within 5 years.
• Active Texas medical license required; will not wait for license.

Locums Cardiovascular Surgery coverage in Texas with relatively light annual surgical volume and APP support for post op rounds. Ongoing need for 24 hour call coverage with the ability to pick up 5 to 12 shifts per month.

Highlights:

• Relatively light surgical volume, about 120 surgeries per year
• Ongoing coverage need, typically 5-12 shifts/month
• Can issue temporary privileges for faster start
• Dedicated cardiac surgical team plus APPs managing post operative rounds

Practice Setting:

• Mix of inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular and thoracic surgery
• Adult only patient population
• General adult cardiac and thoracic case mix, including CABG and standard lung biopsies
• When covering a week long block, clinic is typically a half day with 3 to 4 pre op or post op patients

Schedule:

• 24 hour call coverage shifts
• Call is stay at home or hotel, 30 minute response time required
• Ongoing coverage need beginning around early November 2026
• Typical monthly need is 5-12 shifts

Cases and Procedures:

• General adult cardiac and thoracic surgery, including CABG and standard lung biopsies
• Facility does not support ECMO, cases requiring ECMO are transferred out

• Board Certified in Cardiovascular or Thoracic Surgery, or Board Eligible within 5 years
• DEA required
