Job summary

77 Consultants is seeking an Associate-level cardiothoracic surgeon for a locum tenens engagement in the Las Vegas area. You will deliver high-quality surgical care, including pre-operative evaluation, surgical intervention, and post-operative management for cardiac and thoracic conditions.

Interdisciplinary collaboration with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other professionals is essential to ensure patient-centered care and smooth operation of services.

Qualifications

• Valid MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completed residency and fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in Nevada, or eligibility to obtain one.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Current DEA registration and CPR/ACLS certification.
• Strong clinical judgment, technical surgical proficiency, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse healthcare teams.
• Prior locum tenens or contract experience preferred.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform cardiothoracic surgical procedures including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and thoracic surgeries.
• Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical plans.
• Provide comprehensive post-operative care and monitor recovery progress.
• Collaborate with cardiology, anesthesia, and nursing teams for optimal outcomes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinical decision-making.
• Maintain accurate, timely medical records and documentation.
• Adhere to hospital protocols and patient safety standards.
• Communicate with patients and families about diagnoses, procedures and outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer review.
• Respond promptly to urgent cardiothoracic surgical needs.
