Job summary

Watco Locomotive Mechanics in Minden, LA, are responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining locomotives in compliance with FRA regulations and Watco policies. You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and support safe rail operations.

The role requires hands-on mechanical skills, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work on-site at an active rail facility. Training and career development are provided.

Qualifications

• Must pass and/or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications required for this position (motors, generators, transformers).
• Valid driver’s license and insurability by company insurance provider.
• Ability to become a qualified Service Engineer according to FRA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain locomotives per company policies and FRA regulations.
• Provide level of customer service aligned with company expectations.
• Dismantle devices using hoists, cranes, and hand or power tools to replace defective parts.
• Record hour meter readings and complete FRA reports as required.
• Perform main bearing checks and air brake tests per specifications.
