Job summary

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, in Muncie, Indiana, is seeking Assemblers to build and repair locomotive cables, wiring, and components according to engineering drawings. You will fabricate cables, inspect with test equipment, and work with engineers and testers to resolve issues end-to-end.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and strong mechanical/electrical knowledge, with the ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work in a noisy, non-temperature-controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Able to read wire running list.
• Proficient with tape measure.
• 2 years of locomotive pinning and plugging experience.
• Able to solder electrical connections.
• Working knowledge of Imagesite, LN.
• Working relationship with materials and testers.
• Team player willing to jump in, help and learn.

Responsibilities

• Build new test cables from engineering drawings.
• Maintain / repair existing cables.
• Pack cables for upcoming order into marked totes.
• Organize and catalog in-house parts and cables.
• Use master schedule to know orders coming to the department.
• Work with engineering to resolve issues with test cables.
• Verify cables with multimeter and other test equipment.
• Collaborate with testers to improve cables.
• Read and interpret wiring schematics.
