Job summary

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a skilled locksmithing technician for the Allen/Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima, OH. The role requires locksmithing experience and inventory control ability to manage keys, locks and related security hardware on site.

Responsibilities include maintaining electronic key systems, repairing doors and frames, and performing preventive maintenance. HR oversees the recruitment with standard pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

• 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in locksmithing.
• 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in inventory control.
• Or equivalent Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and replace cylinder and key locks and door closers.
• Panic bars and/or related locking hardware/devices.
• Lubricates and adjusts locks and locking devices.
• Repairs electronic locking devices.
• Installs deadbolts, makes master locks and keys.
• Makes new keys using various machinery for doors, cupboards, filing cabinets and more.
• Maintains and repairs parts fabrication of locks in cell blocks, doors, cabinets and/or safes.
• Performs preventive maintenance on locks and doors.
• Operates PC to prepare and maintain work related records.
• Keeps records of all door locks within facility.
• Maintains identification of keys and records of keys issued.
• Maintains inventory of parts and prepares requisitions.
• Prepares periodic reports and responds to information requests.
• Repairs doors, frames and/or hinges if needed for lock repair.
• Makes chits for employees, key rings, vehicles and other devices.
• Mantains, programs and enters information in Morse Watchman
• Serves on institutional committees
• Attends training, seminars and/or meetings as required
• Performs security functions as required
