Star Construction LLC is hiring a Locator to mark underground utilities with flags and paint, ensuring safe and efficient project execution. You will be trained on locating methods and will work with experienced Locators to support various site operations.

The role requires basic requirements and a readiness to work in diverse weather, with opportunities for training and advancement within a safety‑first company.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Authorized to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED or relevant work experience.
• Valid State driver''s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate detection equipment to locate underground utilities and mark findings.
• Read utility maps to locate underground utilities.
• Document all locates accurately.
• Respond promptly to excavation notices and coordinate with crews.
• Communicate clearly with excavators, utility reps and staff.
• Dig lightly with a shovel when needed.
• Work overtime, travel, and be on call as required.
• Perform duties in all weather conditions.

What You’ll Do

• Operate detection equipment to locate and mark underground utilities, seeking guidance from experienced Locators as needed
• Read utility maps to find underground utilities correctly
• Document all locates
• Respond promptly and courteously to excavation notices
• Communicate well with excavators, utility representatives, and company staff
• Dig lightly with a shovel when necessary
• Work overtime, travel, and perform on‑call/afterhours responsibilities as needed
• Perform work in all weather conditions

What You’ll Need

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be provisional) with an acceptable driving record

Physical Requirements

• Routinely: work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
• Occasionally: use portable ladder, work in confined spaces and climb stairs
