Job summary

IAS is seeking a location leader in Farley, IA to direct growth and efficient operations across the location, serving members, customers and employees.

You will recruit, hire and train staff, oversee daily operations, manage inventories, safety, and compliance while partnering with grain and supply teams to maximize market share and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Experience in agricultural retail management, including grain, agronomy, feed, and energy.
  • Mechanical aptitude with understanding of hydraulics, pumping and piping systems, and related machinery.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech, and to organize and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, and train all location personnel (full-time, seasonal, and contractual).
  • Manage location growth, daily operations and distribution of location products.
  • Provide customer service to promote growth in grain purchases and supply sales.
  • Grow location market share by using marketing strategies with location customers and coordination with grain staff.
  • Communicate with supply sales marketing teams to meet location volume goals.
  • Safekeep location inventory and maintain accurate accounting.
  • Manage inventories to meet seasonal demand.
  • Maintain location hours to meet full-time and seasonal demands.
  • Manage location labor, variable, and fixed expenses to meet local income requirements.
  • Maintain location assets and supervise maintenance program.
  • Manage all facility operations and quality control; maximize blending opportunities.
  • Complete intercompany and regulatory requirements on a timely basis.
  • Manage location’s accounts receivable loss to less than 0.1% of sales.
  • Knowledge, promotion, and enforcement of safety policies and procedures; minimize lost time accidents.
  • Maintain a clean and organized facility that you, employees, and customers will be proud of.
  • Accept and carry out other assigned tasks; these could total 15% to 25% of daily duties.

Job description

Primary Objective: Provide the leadership and management necessary for the growth and efficient operations of the location to benefit IAS, its members, customers, and employees.
Major Accountabilities:

  • The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
  • Recruit, hire, and train all full-time, seasonal, and contractual location personnel.
  • Manage location growth, daily operations, and efficient distribution of location products.
  • Provide a level of customer service that promotes growth in annual grain purchases and supply sales.
  • Grow location market share in grain bushels purchased annually by determining the best use of marketing strategies available for location customers and coordinating with grain department personnel to promote those strategies.
  • Effective communications with supply sales marketing teams to accomplish location volume goals.
  • Safekeeping of location’s physical product inventory and accurate accounting thereof.
  • Manage location inventories to meet seasonal demand.
  • Maintain location hours to meet full-time and seasonal demands.
  • Manage location labor, variable, and fixed expenses to meet location local income requirements.
  • Maintain location assets and supervise location maintenance program.
  • Manage all facility operations and quality control; maximize blending opportunities.
  • Completion of intercompany and regulatory requirements on a timely basis.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and experience in agricultural retail management, including areas of grain, agronomy, feed, and energy.
    Mechanical aptitude including basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulics, pumping systems, piping systems, and knowledge of various machines and tools including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate information or ideas effectively in written and oral form.
  • Ability to organize, deal with change effectively, and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Microsoft Office suite programs, including Excel and Word.
  • Series I computer operation

Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:

  • Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or carry objects with a minimum weight of 50 pounds. Also, flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Additionally, trunk strength and the ability to utilize abdominal and lower back muscles to support the body repeatedly or continuouslyover time. Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
  • Agricultural Environment – Possible exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agriculture products.
  • Personal Protective Equipment may be required for some tasks.
