Job summary

N&S LOCATING SERVICES d.b.a. S&N is seeking a Locate Technician to accurately identify and mark underground utilities for safe excavation. You will conduct site surveys, interpret maps and blueprints, and provide clear information to construction teams.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree is preferred. You should have 1–2 years of utility locating experience, knowledge of electronic locating equipment and GPS, and a valid driver's license.

Job Purpose:- The Locate Technician is responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires a keen attention to detail and a commitment to safety standards, helping prevent damage to critical infrastructure and ensuring public safety.Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough site surveys to identify and mark underground utilities using specialized equipment.- Interpret and analyze utility maps and blueprints to ensure precise location of utilities.- Communicate effectively with construction teams and other stakeholders to provide clear and accurate information regarding utility locations.- Maintain detailed records of all markings and surveys conducted, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and damage during excavation activities.- Stay updated on industry standards, technology advancements, and regulatory changes related to utility locating.- Provide training and guidance to junior technicians and new team members as needed.- Respond promptly to emergency locate requests to support urgent excavation needs.Required Education:- High school diploma or equivalent.
