Qualifications

Job Purpose:- The Locate Technician is responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires a keen attention to detail and a commitment to safety standards, helping prevent damage to critical infrastructure and ensuring public safety.Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough site surveys to identify and mark underground utilities using specialized equipment.- Interpret and analyze utility maps and blueprints to ensure precise location of utilities.- Communicate effectively with construction teams and other stakeholders to provide clear and accurate information regarding utility locations.- Maintain detailed records of all markings and surveys conducted, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and damage during excavation activities.- Stay updated on industry standards, technology advancements, and regulatory changes related to utility locating.- Provide training and guidance to junior technicians and new team members as needed.- Respond promptly to emergency locate requests to support urgent excavation needs.Required Education:- High school diploma or equivalent. An associate degree in a related field is preferred.Required Experience:- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in utility locating or a related field.- Proven track record of working with utility maps and blueprints.- Experience with electronic locating equipment and GPS technology.Required Skills and Abilities:- Strong understanding of utility infrastructure and underground utilities.- Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings.- Proficient in using electronic locating equipment and GPS devices.- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with team members and clients.- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
