Local Delivery Driver – Milgard Products

Location: Fife, WA
Operating Area: Washington and Oregon
Equipment: Straight Trucks and Day Cabs with Dry Van Trailers

Position Overview

The Local Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting and delivering windows, doors, and other Milgard products from the distribution center in Fife, Washington, to customer locations throughout Washington and Oregon.

This is a highly physical, customer-facing driving position. Drivers are responsible for unloading products at each delivery location, verifying deliveries using a scanner, maintaining proper load securement, and communicating directly with customers regarding arrival times and delivery instructions.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate automatic straight trucks as the primary equipment and day cabs with dry van trailers as needed.
• Deliver windows, doors, and other Milgard products to customers throughout Washington and Oregon.
• Hand unload products at customer locations.
• Regularly lift and handle products averaging approximately 80 lbs, with some items weighing up to 400 lbs.
• Use provided dollies and appropriate equipment to assist with heavier products.
• Must be physically capable of lifting 80 lbs multiple times throughout the workday.
• Use a scanner at each stop to verify that the correct products are being delivered.
• Follow customer-specific procedures for checking in loaded trailers and placing or dropping trailers in designated locations.
• Reposition load securement bars after each delivery to ensure remaining products are properly secured for transportation.
• Contact customers to provide estimated arrival times and obtain clarification regarding onsite delivery locations when necessary.
• Provide professional, courteous customer service during frequent interactions with customers.
• Assist with yard/hostler duties as needed. Drivers will receive yard training and will be paid their applicable hourly rate while performing these duties.
• Assist other DCS/JBI accounts as operational needs require.
• Run JBI freight approximately 2–3 times per month, on average. Drivers will receive the applicable daily rate when running JBI loads.
• Wear the required company uniform and proper PPE. Uniforms and PPE will be provided by the account.
• Follow all company, customer, DOT, and safety procedures.

Equipment & Truck Information

Drivers will primarily operate automatic straight trucks. Automatic day cabs will be used when needed.

This is a slip-seat position, so drivers may operate different assigned equipment. Trucks must remain at the designated facility and cannot be taken home during time off. Passengers and pets are not permitted in company equipment.

Physical Requirements

This position requires significant physical activity throughout the workday. Drivers must be able to:

• Lift 80 lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
• Handle windows, doors, and related building products at multiple delivery stops.
• Safely maneuver larger and heavier products using provided dollies and equipment.
• Enter and exit trucks frequently.
• Perform physical loading/unloading and product-handling activities in varying weather and customer-site conditions.

Customer Service Expectations

Because drivers interact directly with customers throughout their routes, a high level of customer service and professionalism is required. Drivers must communicate clearly, provide accurate ETA information, follow customer delivery instructions, and professionally resolve routine delivery questions.
