Job summary

Matrix Service is seeking an experienced welder in Washington to perform welding per jobsite specifications. Local candidates only; no travel or per diem. You will pass a practical welding test (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and work with various welding processes on pipes and structural components.

Expect adherence to safety, QA/QC standards, and accurate execution under load and environmental conditions. Certifications and site-specific trainings are required, with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years or more welding experience.
  • Must pass a practical welding skill test at the jobsite.
  • Complete Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and site-specific training.
  • Must obtain and maintain active status within the appropriate drug testing program.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • TWIC card is preferred.
  • 20-hour high hazard facility training card is preferred.
  • Must have Verification of 8,000 craft related hours OR graduated journeyperson status preferred.

  • Perform duties within a precise limit or standard of accuracy (Quality Control).
  • Work well with peers, supervision and QA/QC Department.
  • Select equipment and plan layout and welding assembly.
  • Weld pipe of various sizes and alloys by ARC, SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, GAS, MIG, TIG, etc.
  • Weld high- and low-pressure pipe per specifications; 100% x-ray & other NDE testing.
  • Fit up pipe and perform grinding when required.
  • Weld structural steel, handrails, brackets, non-piping components.
  • Identify hazards and take corrective action; maintain safety protocols.

Job Summary

Perform welding functions per jobsite specifications. Must be able to pass a practical welding skill test required by the jobsite (2\" .436 SMAW 6G and 2\" .344 GTAW 6G and/or .5 \" FCAW). Looking for locals only no travel or per diem.

Job Functions

  • Perform duties within a precise limit or standard of accuracy (Quality Control).
  • To work well with peers, supervision and the QA/QC Department.
  • Select equipment and plan layout and assembly of welding.
  • May weld pipe of all kinds, sizes and alloys by process of ARC, SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, GAS, MIG, TIG, etc.
  • Weld high- and low-pressure pipe per specifications. All welds are subject to NDE testing including visual, hydro and 100% x-ray.
  • Fit up pipe in some instances, as well as perform grinding when required.
  • Weld on structural steel, handrails, brackets, non-piping components, etc.
  • Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
  • Must possess current certification in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW or FCAW.
  • Perform other related duties.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.
Qualifications

  • MUST obtain and maintain active status within the appropriate drug testing program.
  • MUST pass background check.

Physical Requirements
  • Employee will be standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
  • Must be able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work from platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long periods of time, up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.

The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay. As such, the actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of this range, and in certain circumstances, may fall outside the listed hiring range.

Hiring range: $48.00 to $65.00 per hour

Full range for this position, available over time: $48.00 to $65.00 per hour
