Job summary

Myn seeks a qualified Lawyer to join a busy Local Government Legal Services team. You will advise across planning, highways, property, contracts and litigation matters, drafting essential documentation and providing timely guidance to Members and council officers.

You will attend meetings as a legal adviser, collaborate with colleagues, and help manage external advice under the council’s commissioning framework. 2+ years PQE is expected.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister with a current practising certificate.
  • 2+ years PQE (guidance only).
  • Proven experience in one or more of the specialisms: planning, highways, property, contracts and commercial, or litigation.
  • Excellent research and drafting skills; ability to draft documentation clearly and accurately.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills and ability to build internal stakeholder relationships.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook and legal case management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on planning, highways, property, contracts and commercial or litigation matters.
  • Draft all necessary documentation required.
  • Attend meetings as the Council's legal adviser and represent Legal Services in various groups and external meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with Legal Services and the wider Council to provide timely advice.
  • Record time spent on matters for recharge to clients.
