Job summary

The Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury offers a 10-week Summer 2027 Financial Audit Intern program in the West region. Interns assist with examining records, financial statements, and management practices for local government entities receiving public funds under supervision.

The program includes audit training, professional development, and a final presentation; interns may travel within West Tennessee and earn $24 per hour, with overnight stays for some events.

Qualifications

• Rising juniors/seniors or graduate accounting students
• Completed at least 6 accounting credits (coursework)
• Preference for intermediate/advanced accounting classes
• Adaptable, critical thinker, team player, eager to learn and grow
• Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, organizational and writing skills

Responsibilities

• Learn to examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for local government entities receiving public funds
• Assist in evaluating fairness of financial statement presentation, internal controls adequacy, efficiency of operations, and compliance with laws and contracts
