Job summary

Airgas is hiring for a Local Cylinder Delivery Driver in Harvey, LA. As an Ambassador for Airgas, you will safely deliver compressed gas cylinders to our local and regional customers, manage the flow of cylinders, and build lasting relationships with every visit.

Required qualifications include valid LA Class A CDL, Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements, a medical examiner's card, and at least one year of Class A/B driving in the last five years.

Qualifications

• Valid LA Class A CDL is required.
• Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements are required.
• Medical examiner's certificate is required.
• One year of professional Class A or B driving in the last five years is required.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations.
• Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups with signatures on a manifest.
• Comply with Airgas safety standards and government regulations (DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, OSHA).
• Provide warehouse or dock support as needed.

As an Ambassador for Airgas, the Service & Delivery Professional takes pride in the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to our local and regional business partners. Operating from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company-provided straight or box truck, you will manage the flow of cylinders while building lasting relationships with the customers you visit.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Cylinder Handling: Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations.
• Record Keeping: Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt. Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
• Warehouse Support: Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.

Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications

• Valid LA Class A commercial driver's license
• Medical examiner's card
• Hazmat & Airbrake endorsements are required.
• One (1) year of professional Class A or B driving experience within the last five (5) years is required.
• A clean driving record is essential, with no more than two (2) convictions OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years.
• A diploma from an accredited driving school may be considered in lieu of experience (Must be within the past 12 months)
• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Comfort with electronic logging and handheld delivery technology.
• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary safety credentials for customer site access.
• Proficiency in reading and comprehending material safety data sheets.
• Ability to navigate complex delivery environments (tight spaces, long-distance backing).
• Flexibility to work occasional overtime when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish (fluent in speaking, writing, and reading) strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (Forklift/Moffett).
