Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Local Delivery Driver in the Bronx, NY. You will safely load, deliver, and unload compressed gas cylinders from a branch, and maintain accurate delivery records for customers.

The role requires a valid Class B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements (or willingness to obtain), a Medical Examiner's Card, and the ability to lift 25–75 lbs. Benefits include comprehensive coverage and a 401(k) plan, with a Monday–Friday day shift.

Qualifications

• Valid Class B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements (or willingness to obtain).
• Medical Examiner's Card.
• 21+ years old and able to read MSDS.
• 1 year of Class B driving in last 5 years with clean record or specified exceptions.
• In lieu of experience, may consider a diploma from an accredited driving school.
• Must be able to lift 25–75 lbs. and up to >125 with assistance.
• Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
• Able to drive hazardous cargo up to 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Cylinder handling: safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations.
• Record deliveries and pickups with signatures on the load manifest and return empty/rejected cylinders to a plant/branch.
• Adhere to Airgas SAFECOR safety standards and DOT/EPA/FMCSA/FDA/OSHA regulations.
• Provide warehouse/dock support as needed.

As an Ambassador for Airgas, the Service & Delivery Professional takes pride in the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to our local and regional business partners. Operating from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company-provided straight or box truck, you will manage the flow of cylinders while building lasting relationships with the customers you visit.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Cylinder Handling: Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations.
• Record Keeping: Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt. Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
• Warehouse Support: Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Hazmat & Tanker Endorsement (or willing to obtain).
• Must have one (1) year of prior Class B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years.
• In lieu of experience, may consider accepting a diploma from an accredited driving school.
• Must be at least 21 years or older
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required.
• Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift operator certification.
