Job summary

Airgas Geismar, LA is hiring a Local Delivery Driver (CDL A with HazMat) to load, deliver and unload compressed gas cylinders to local customers. You will document deliveries, follow safety standards, and support warehouse operations.

Qualifying candidates have a valid LA CDL-A, HazMat and Airbrake, a Medical Examiner's Card, and at least 1 year of recent Class A/B driving experience with a clean record. Benefits begin after 30 days.

Qualifications

• Valid LA Class A CDL required and HazMat/Airbrake certifications.
• Medical Examiner's Card required.
• HazMat & Airbrake certifications required.
• 1+ year of Class A/B driving in last 5 years with clean record or two at-fault accidents.
• In lieu of experience, diploma from a driving school accepted within past 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders of compressed gases to customer locations.
• Record deliveries and pickups on a manifest; obtain customer signatures.
• Adhere to safety standards and regulations (DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, OSHA).
• Provide warehouse or dock support as needed.

As an Ambassador for Airgas, the Service & Delivery Professional takes pride in the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to our local and regional business partners. Operating from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company-provided straight or box truck, you will manage the flow of cylinders while building lasting relationships with the customers you visit. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Cylinder Handling: Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations.
• Record Keeping: Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt. Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
• Warehouse Support: Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid LA Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications are required.
• Must have one (1) year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years.
• In lieu of experience, may consider accepting a diploma from an accredited driving school within the past 12 months.
• Must be at least 21 years or older
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required.
• Must be able to work occasional overtime if necessary.
• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary safety credentials for customer site access.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (Forklift/Moffett).
