Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Local Delivery Driver in Carnegie, PA to safely load, transport, and deliver compressed gas cylinders from a branch or plant location. The role emphasizes building relationships with customers while adhering to Airgas safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualified drivers will have a CDL A with Hazmat endorsement or willingness to obtain, a Medical Examiner's Card, and at least 1 year of Class A driving experience within the last 5 years.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Hazmat endorsement or willingness to obtain.
• Medical Examiner's Card required.
• At least 1 year of Class A driving experience in the last 5 years or equivalent driving exposure.
• Ability to read MSDS and lift 25–75 lbs (up to 125 lbs with assistance).

Responsibilities

• Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders to customer locations.
• Record deliveries and collect signatures on the manifest.
• Maintain safety compliance with DOT/EPA/FMCSA/FDA/OSHA standards.
• Provide warehouse/ dock support as needed.

As an Ambassador for Airgas, the Service & Delivery Professional takes pride in the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to our local and regional business partners. Operating from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company‑provided straight or box truck, you will manage the flow of cylinders while building lasting relationships with the customers you visit.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Cylinder Handling: Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations.
• Record Keeping: Accurately record deliveries and pick‑ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt. Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
• Warehouse Support: Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Hazmat Endorsement (or willing to obtain).
• Must have one (1) year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at‑fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at‑fault accident in the last three years.
• In lieu of experience, may consider accepting a diploma from an accredited driving school.
• Must be at least 21 years or older
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required.
• Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift operator certification.
