Job summary

Ben E. Keith Company is seeking a Local Class A CDL Driver Trainee who works home daily in the Fort Worth area. You will manage deliveries along assigned routes, inspect equipment, assemble orders, and ensure timely, damage-free distribution to customer sites.

The role requires DOT knowledge, 1+ year route experience, a valid Class A CDL, and strong customer service skills. This is a full-time position with BEK benefits and safety-focused operations.

Qualifications

• Must know DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• At least 1 year of route driving experience.
• DOT certification required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid State Class A CDL license required in state of residence.
• Ability to understand regulatory guidelines and safety standards.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math and record-keeping abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform product deliveries along assigned routes and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Inspect vehicle equipment and arrange timely deliveries.
• Assemble orders and maintain accurate delivery windows.
• Place products at storage locations per customer requests.
• Ensure no damage and report issues to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Read maps, follow directions, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Comply with DOT regulations and BEK safety policies.
• Complete administrative transportation paperwork and invoicing review.

Local Class A CDL Driver Trainee | Home Daily

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

• Perform product deliveries along assigned routes, and other related duties to guarantee customer satisfaction.
• Inspect vehicle equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water, and request service and repairs as needed.
• Assemble orders for timely delivery to customer businesses, ensuring accurate delivery windows for each route stop.
• Place delivered products in various assigned storage locations at each route stop according to customer requests.
• Maintain accuracy of delivered product with no damage due to mishandling.
• Immediately communicate problems to the Transportation Supervisor by phone.
• Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
• Manage multiple assignments and tasks, ensuring appropriate use of time, equipment, and materials.
• Follow BEK transportation policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
• Comply with traffic laws and obey transportation and traffic procedures.
• Follow transportation policies, DOT regulations, food/personal safety regulations, and company policies and procedures for personnel.
• Remain DOT compliant and aware of DOT changes in guidelines.
• Ensure conformance with BEK standards for professional appearance, conduct, and training requirements.
• Complete administrative tasks and related paperwork to guarantee the efficiency of transportation operations.
• Review customer invoices to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, and delivered.
• Report mechanical problems, delays, accidents or other traffic situations to base location as needed.
• Turn in receipts and monies received from customer deliveries.
• Maintain records, including vehicle logs, cargo and/or billing statements in accordance with BEK policies.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Must know and adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• At least 1 year of route driving experience required
• DOT certification required
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Valid State Class A CDL license required in state of residence
• Ability to understand and enforce regulatory guidelines
• Knowledge of customer service principles and quality standards
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and learn new applications/proprietary software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic math skills required

Physical Requirements:

• Able to perform repetitive lifting of over 50lbs., occasional lifting over 100lbs.
• Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
• Must be able to walk extensively.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend at the waist, stoop, and squat to lift heavy items in a proper manner.
• Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrist, hands, feet and legs.
• Must be able to read numbers and product descriptions.

Driver safety is important to Ben E. Keith. We use dash cameras which leverage artificial intelligence to recognize safe driving, capture safety events and improve driver safety performance. The videos are also used to exonerate drivers in accidents. All drivers sign a driver consent form upon hire to confirm their understanding.
