Job summary

Yakima Waste, a Waste Connections Company, is seeking a safety‑minded CDL Driver for Yakima, WA. Class A or B CDL with air brake endorsement required. The role involves local route work with a typical 45-hour week and a starting pay of $28.59 per hour, rising to $31.08 after one year.

Hours are 6:00am to route completion, with occasional Saturdays and no Sundays. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and a 401K. Equal opportunity employer; background check and drug screen required.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with air brake endorsement.
• Clean driving record.
• Working knowledge of DOT laws.
• Ability to work 40–50 hours a week.
• Schedule flexibility to work M-F with a 6:00am start; occasional Saturdays; no Sundays.
• Willingness to pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend reports.

Responsibilities

• Read route tablets/sheets and service each customer on the sheet or assigned by dispatcher.
• Perform Daily Pre-trip and Post-Trip DOT inspections on vehicles (fluids, safety equipment, lights, tire pressure).
• Load/unload 500+ customer containers into a manual rear-load truck.
• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
• Interact courteously with customers and perform other duties as assigned.
• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday 6:00am–3:30pm or until route is completed, with occasional Saturday and average 45 hours/week, overtime often.

Hours will be 6am- to when the Route is complete. This route typically averages about 45 hours a week.

Starting Rate of pay will be $28.59 and will increase to $31.08 after One Year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to read route Tablet/sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
• Perform Daily Pre-trip and Post-Trip DOT inspections on vehicles. Such as checking fluids, safety equipment, lights and tire pressure.
• Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading 500+ Customer Containers into the back of a Manual rear Load Truck.
• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
• Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• A typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 6:00am-3:30pm or when the route is completed, with an occasional Saturday as needed, Average 45 hour work week. With overtime often.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
• Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts. Which require following basic safety precautions.
• The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Class A or B CDL license with air brake endorsement required.
• Clean Driving Record.
• Working knowledge of D.O.T. laws
• Ability to work 40-50 hours a week
• Schedule flexibility to work M-F with a starting time of 6am (occasional Saturdays but No Sundays!)
• Willingness to submit to and pass background check and pre-employment drug screening test
• Ability to read, write and comprehend reports to complete daily assignments
• Physical demands include:
• Ability to function in a wide variety of environments to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments (i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold)
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and move and maneuver up to 100 pounds
• Ability to mount and dismount the truck multiple times every day while on route
