Job summary

Mason County Garbage , a Waste Connections Company in Shelton, WA, is seeking a safety-conscious Class B CDL garbage truck driver for a full-time role with a 6 AM start, Monday–Friday schedule and occasional Saturdays. You will be home every night and may train as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste.
• Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
• Perform a physically demanding job, including loading and unloading, sometimes without assistance.
• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
• Interact courteously with customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job description

Are you a safety-conscious driver looking for a stable, full-time career with great pay, benefits, and the chance to be home every night? Mason County Garbage , a Waste Connections Company, is looking for a reliable and motivated Class B CDL Garbage Truck Driver to join our team in Shelton, WA.

Previous waste industry experience is a big plus—but not required. We’re happy to train the right person!

The schedule is Monday–Friday, starting at 6 AM , and occasional Saturdays as needed. You’ll average about 45 hours per week (overtime eligible) and be home every night! The job will require driving either an ASL Truck or a roll-off truck, depending on need.

The starting pay range for this position is $27.75/hour with annual pay increases and bonus opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste. Waste experience is preferred but not required.
• Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
• Perform a physically demanding job, including loading and unloading, sometimes without assistance.
• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
• Interact courteously with customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• Requires extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
• Work environment involves exposure to physical risks, such as moving mechanical parts, requiring basic safety precautions.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including frequent wet and/or humid environments, as well as fumes and vibrations.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement
• Clean driving record (please bring a copy of your MVR to the in-person interview)
• Ability to operate 10-, 13-, and 18-speed transmissions (preferred, not required)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant driving experience
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Safety-Sensitive – YES
