Salt City Trucking is seeking a CDL-A Local Intermodal Driver for the Fort Wayne area. You will haul intermodal containers to Chicago daily and handle local customer routes with a home daily schedule.

Expect a strong pay package averaging $80,000–$88,000 per year, a $5,000 sign-on bonus, and additional pay for live loads, drop-and-hook moves, hazmat loads, delays, and PTO. Automatic transmissions only; riders not permitted.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL
• Minimum 3 months of verifiable Class A CDL experience
• Clean driving record
• Valid DOT Medical Card
• Hazmat endorsement required within 60 days of hire
• Hazmat endorsement cost reimbursed after it is added to the license

Responsibilities

• Transport intermodal containers between customers and rail yards
• Run to Chicago and back daily, with local routes within ~100 miles of Fort Wayne
• Operate within ~175 miles of Fort Wayne
• Day-shift with 60% drop-and-hook and 40% live load/unload
• Riders are not permitted
• Automatic trucks only; slip-seat and leave trucks at account during time off

Earn an average of $80,000–$88,000 per year hauling intermodal containers in the Fort Wayne area, with daily runs to Chicago and local customer routes. This dedicated opportunity offers a $5,000 bonus, additional pay for live loads, drop-and-hook moves, delays, and hazmat loads, plus paid time off.

Main Yard / Starting Location

Fort Wayne, IN — drivers report to the Fort Wayne yard daily for dispatch and truck assignment. Routes include daily trips to Chicago and local work within the surrounding area.

Pay Details

• Average Annual Pay: $80,000–$88,000
• Average Weekly Pay: $1,550–$1,700
• Mileage Pay: $0.52–$0.62 CPM
• Bonus: $5,000
• Live Load/Unload Pay: $56 per customer
• Drop-and-Hook Pay: $28 per customer pickup or delivery
• Out-of-Route Empty Move/Crosstown Drop: $15
• Rail Delay Pay: $15 per hour after the first hour
• Detention Pay: $15 per hour after 1.5 hours
• Hazmat Load Pay: $25 per load

Job Details

• Day-shift freight is approximately 60% drop-and-hook and 40% live load/unload.

• Drivers slip-seat and must leave trucks at the account during time off.
• Riders are not permitted.

Shift Details

• Tuesday–Saturday
• Start time: 9:00 AM
• Approximately 11-hour shifts
• Home daily
• Paid Time Off:
  • First year: 18 paid days off, including 12 PTO days and 6 holidays.
  • After the first year: 22 paid days off, including 16 PTO days and 6 holidays.

Job Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL
• Minimum 3 months of verifiable Class A CDL experience
• Clean driving record
• Valid DOT Medical Card
• No SAP drivers
• Hazmat endorsement required within 60 days of hire
• Hazmat endorsement cost reimbursed after it is added to the driver's license.
