WSP USA is seeking a Local Business Line Lead for the Property & Buildings team in Seattle, WA. You will drive growth, lead the local strategic plan, and oversee project and office financial performance while managing multidisciplinary design teams on complex projects.

You will champion client relationships, develop people, and shape the future of the Seattle office and practice, with a focus on healthcare, commercial, and other markets. This is a hybrid role based in the Seattle area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering or Architecture.
  • 12+ years of experience in design including leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in business development and client engagement within the property and buildings sector.

About the Role

WSP is seeking a Local Business Line Lead for our Property & Buildings team in Seattle, WA. In this high-impact leadership role, you'll be responsible for the growth of our P&B team in the local market with a focus on complex market sectors such as healthcare, commercial, mission critical, industrial, higher education, and science & technology.


As the office lead for our P&B team, you will manage the local strategic plan, be responsible for project and office financial performance, driving technical excellence, leading multidisciplinary design teams, managing complex projects, and acting as a champion for client relationships. You'll also play a pivotal role in developing our people and shaping the future of our office and practice. You'll have significant involvement and input in the strategic plan to grow the practice and increase our project management and business development activities.


This position is ideal for an accomplished engineers who thrive on strategic thinking and collaborative leadership within a global firm committed to innovation and growth.

  • Drive the performance of the business and strategically grow our market share.

  • Build and sustain trusted client relationships; serve as the \"face of the company\" locally and regionally.

  • Lead pursuit management for local and regional clients; engage with broader teams for national pursuits.

  • Identify opportunities for practice growth and differentiation; represent the firm at industry events and professional organizations.

  • Utilize our extended reach of technical and subject matter experts (SMEs) across regions, districts, offices, and the globe to foster new and innovative client delivery.

  • Develop local growth, forecast, and business development strategy in collaboration with District, Region, and National Business Line Leaders.

  • Resolve conflict and other internal/external issues that may arise in the office, amongst WSP's client base, or on projects.

  • Collaborate with regional leaders and other key team members to strategically drive the business, assess and suggest improvements for project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Sales, Funding, EBITDA, Staff Hiring and Retention, DSO, Utilization, Backlog, Inclusion & Diversity, and Guiding Principles.

  • Leverage our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings.

  • Foster the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in our industry.

  • Advance the region's strategic direction in the location of responsibility for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan.

  • Encourage, support, and promote the technical and professional development of local WSP staff.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering or Architecture; PE or RA license preferred.

  • 12+ years of experience in design, including leadership roles.

  • Proven track record in business development and client engagement within the property and buildings sector.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications


  • LEED AP Certification

  • At least 10+ years of Project Management experience.


Location & Work Arrangement


  • This position is based in the Seattle metro area. We offer a flexible, hybrid work arrangement in-office presence is expected to support collaboration, client engagement, and team leadership. Candidates must reside in or relocate to the Seattle area; this is not a fully remote position.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $184,100- $283,600


WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
