Job summary

Hawthorn Bank in Missouri seeks a Loan Servicing Representative I to perform general loan servicing tasks, including updating collateral records, processing payments, and preparing documents. You will assist loan staff and respond to customer inquiries with accuracy.

Requires a high school diploma (GED) and at least six months of general office experience; basic PC skills and the ability to follow procedures. Occasional travel may be required.

  • Process loan payments and prepare checks.
  • Fold, stuff, and mail letters; may create letters, as assigned.
  • File loan documentation, such as deeds of trust, notice of liens, UCCs, etc.
  • Review paid loan reports and release collateral as needed.
  • Answer telephone and assist customers with questions.
  • Assist other loan servicing staff with a variety of duties, as assigned.
  • Comply with all banking regulations, policies and procedures.

LOAN SERVICING REPRESENTATIVE I
SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing general loan servicing functions. Deviations from normal procedures and/or questions are referred to the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Update loan collateral tracking information; respond to authorized requests for loan information; communicate with loan staff in all regions.
  • Disburse and upload new loans and renewals; prepare and scan loan documents.
  • Review and buy indirect dealer contracts.
  • Process loan payments and prepare checks.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Possess a minimum of at least six months of general office or file clerk work experience. Formal education or training may be substituted for the required work experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Operate standard office equipment (e.g., personal computer/printer, telephone, fax machine, copier, folding machine, calculator, etc.). Basic PC knowledge.

Has frequent contact with loan officers, other bank employees, and customers.

  • Valid driver’s license.
