Job summary

ConnectOne Bank is seeking a Loan Processor to support Residential and Consumer Lending by ordering investigative reports and processing applications. You will verify employment, income, and other details, and ensure proper disclosures for compliance.

The role includes assisting with loan closing documents, creating new files, and handling inquiries while maintaining a client-focused, professional demeanor. Hybrid work options apply.

Qualifications

• Strong People First mindset and ability.
• Knowledge of CNOB products and Residential/Consumer services preferred.
• Knowledge of federal and state banking regulations (e.g., BSA, CRA, ADA, GLBA, Regulation E, USA PATRIOT Act).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail with ability to prioritize in high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Review applications for completeness and verify applicant backgrounds.
• Order credit reports and related verifications (e.g., VOE, VOM, VOD).
• Provide applicants with proper disclosures for compliance.
• Assist in preparing loan closing documents and forwarding to branches/attorneys.
• Create new loan files and handle inquiries about application status.

About this role

The Loan Processor is responsible for ordering investigative reports and processing loan applications to support the Bank’s Residential and Consumer Lending effort.

In this role you will

• Support the Bank’s "People First" focus and rules of engagement - maintaining a professional demeanor, working as an active member of the CNOB team, providing clients excellent service, always striving to make CNOB "A Better Place to Be"
• Review applications for completeness and investigate applicants’ backgrounds.
• Order credit reports (e.g., Experian, property search, appraisal, judgment search or other as deemed necessary) by a lending officer.
• Validate client information supplied on the application (e.g., employment and wage history, telephone numbers; send out Verification of Employment (VOE), Verification of Rent or Mortgage (VOM), Verification of Deposit (VOD).
• Provide applicants with proper disclosures to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
• Assist in preparing loan closing documents; forward to assigned branches or attorneys.
• Create new loan files.
• Handle customer inquiries (phone and written correspondence) as related to their application status.

Must haves

• Strong "People First" interest and ability.
• Knowledge of CNOB products and Residential and Consumer services preferred.
• Knowledge of relevant Federal and State banking regulations (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, Community Reinvestment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Regulation E and US PATRIOT Act).
• Strong management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail with ability to prioritize in a high-volume environment.
