Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to assess financial goals and mortgage eligibility.
  • Educate clients on mortgage products, terms, and options.
  • Answer inquiries on rates, products and loan status.
  • Assist clients in completing mortgage applications and gathering documentation.
  • Develop relationships with referral sources to generate loan prospects.
  • Coordinate marketing materials with production teams and track materials.
  • Build a referral base and self-generate leads and maintain client lists.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, processors, realtors, and lenders for smooth approvals.
  • Obtain accurate 1003 and close at least two loans per month or six per quarter.
  • Collect required documents (pay stubs, tax returns, W-2s, bank statements).
  • Obtain disclosures within regulatory timeframes and ensure accurate AUS findings.
  • Analyze credit and financials to determine suitable loan products.
  • Submit complete loan package to processing and lock rates.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and update clients/agents throughout the process.
  • Stay current with lending regulations and mortgage guidelines.

Job description

Position Summary

The Loan Officer plays an important role in the organization by performing a variety of activities directly related to the company’s Production functions. The role is primarily responsible, under moderate supervision, for providing quality relations with borrowers through completing the origination processing of application, loan disclosure, review files for adherence to underwriting standards; ensuring completeness of submission to processing. Contacts borrowers to collect necessary documentation and act as a liaison between origination staff, underwriters and customers.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct one‑on‑one consultations with clients to understand their financial goals and assess their eligibility for mortgage loans.
  • Educate clients on various mortgage products, terms, and options, offering personalized recommendations based on their unique needs.
  • Answer customer inquiries involving rates, products, and loan application status to ensure quality customer service.
  • Assist clients in completing mortgage applications, collecting necessary documentation, and ensuring compliance with lending guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with all our referral sources to generate prospects for loans.
  • Partner with production support teams to generate sales using company and online marketing resources. Coordinate, create, track and distribute marketing materials.
  • Build a referral base with lead sources; self‑generate new leads and maintain established referral sources and client lists.
  • Collaborate closely with underwriters, processors, realtors, and lenders to facilitate a seamless loan approval process.
  • Obtain accurate and thorough 1003 and close at least two (2) loans a month or six (6) loans a quarter.
  • Collect supporting documentation from borrower:
    • 30‑day paystubs
    • 2 years tax returns
    • Last 2 years W2’s
    • Award letters, disability, trust income, etc.
    • LOE for gaps in jobs
    • At initial contact with borrower provide needs list and complete application
    • 2 months bank statements
  • Obtain executed disclosures within regulations time frame.
  • Obtain accurate AUS findings.
  • Analyze credit report and financial scenario, determining appropriate loan product(s).
  • Determine a profitable loan and communicate fees to ops team.
  • Submit a complete loan package to processing.
  • Lock in rate.
  • Review CD to ensure fees and cash at closing are consistent with commitment to customer.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by keeping clients/agents informed during the loan process and addressing all their questions and concerns.
  • Stay current with industry regulations, lending trends, and changes in mortgage guidelines.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties required by Guild Mortgage Company or Managing Loan Officer.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in mortgage lending or related field.
  • Certifications/Licenses: NMLS License.
  • Additional Qualifications:

Schedules

Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday – Friday.

This position offers eligibility for incentive compensation. Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.
