Summary

A loan officer identifies, acquires, and grows new & existing profitable business relationships with businesses & consumers that create value for the customer & yield loan commitments & deposit balances for Schertz Bank & Trust.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops potential clientele of average to significant complexity and dollar size in keeping with authorized levels of authority
  • Manages existing portfolios, monitoring the financial condition of accounts in relation to acceptable risk
  • Attends to the needs of customers seeking loans or lines of credit on terms that involve significant amounts of unsecured funds and/or credit secured by assets
  • Interviews loan applicants to develop information concerning their business, needs, desires, & abilities & earnings
  • Monitors current loans & credit lines to ensure complete conformity with terms & cognizance of developing trends
  • Identifies weaknesses in credit performance and recommends appropriate corrective action
  • Provides financial advice & counsel to customers & prospective customers
  • Manages all phases of the loan life cycle including—relevant systems, loan policies & structure, product knowledge, financial analysis, appraisal review and environmental assessments
  • Solicits deposit relationships based on established product offerings
  • Utilizes decision making & credit analysis skills to make appropriate credit & structuring decisions
  • Completes all required paperwork & forms in a timely & accurate manner
  • Prepares all required reports
  • Makes presentations to Loan & Discount Committee on loans above lending limit
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the President
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises the loan secretary assigned.
