Job summary

FCB Banks is seeking an experienced Loan Assistant to support loan officers and service banking customers across our Illinois locations. You will assist with loan processing, document preparation, and customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (preferred).
  • 2 – 5 years of customer service experience (preferred).
  • 1 – 3 years of financial services industry experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Explains loan options, rates, terms and collateral requirements to customers.
  • Orders credit reports, prepares loan documents and analyzes debt-to-income ratio.
  • Coordinates and conducts loan closings.
  • Reviews loan documents with customers.
  • Obtains customer's signature on loan documents.
  • Initiates disbursement of loan proceeds.
  • Services loans in portfolio.
  • Monitors and follows up on loan maturities and renewals.
  • Keeps informed of changing rules and regulations pertaining to mortgages.

FCB Banks has been family owned and managed for more than three generations. Our original banks opened in New Baden and Albers in 1901 and customers quickly associated FCB with quality service, competitive rates, and personal customer care. JOB SUMMARY:

Assists Loan Officers with making and servicing all varieties of Lending Products provided by FCB. Provides service to customers and prospective customers. Works in a support capacity to Loan Officers.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Explains loan options, rates, terms and collateral requirements to customers.
  • Orders credit reports, prepares loan documents and analyzes debt-to-income ratio.
  • Coordinates and conducts loan closings.
  • Reviews loan documents with customers.
  • Obtains customer's signature on loan documents.
  • Initiates disbursement of loan proceeds.
  • Services loans in portfolio.
  • Monitors and follows up on loan maturities and renewals.
  • Works with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with FCB’s policies and procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Keeps informed of changing rules and regulations pertaining to private and government insured mortgages.
  • Closes consumer loans.
  • Completes loan maintenance.
  • Assists with bank customer service.
  • Handles loan customer service for all locations.
  • Assists all loan officers as needed.
  • Prepares certain Board reports.
  • Pulls past-due reports for loan officers.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

TECHNICAL SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Strong and professional communication skills: oral, written, listening and presentation
  • Strong technology skills, along with expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and traditional office products (copiers, fax machines, ten‑keys, phones, etc.)
  • Customer Service – acknowledges, greets and responds quickly to customer needs; remains professional when dealing with challenging situations
  • Problem Solving – identifies and resolves problems timely
  • Teamwork – contributes to building a positive team spirit
  • Quick learner, detail-oriented and effective at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Initiative/self‑motivation
  • Working knowledge of bank operations, policies and procedures, and products and services, real estate lending function and federal and state lending regulations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (preferred)
  • 2 – 5 years of customer service experience (preferred)
  • 1 – 3 years of financial services industry experience (preferred)
  • 1 – 3 years lending or loan assistant experience (preferred)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Constantly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, calculators and fax machines.
  • Availability to work during bank operating hours (i.e. 8:00 am - 5:30 pm). Requires occasional Saturdays 8:00 am - 12:30 pm.
  • Occasionally requires local travel including offsite trainings, meetings and temporary assignment to alternate locations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and see. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee regularly is required to lift up to 15 lbs. and occasionally required to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast‑paced, changing environment and maintain a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures and written instructions, as well as verbal instructions or directions from their supervisor.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
