Job summary

Vista Sand is seeking a loader operator to manage loading of dry product onto trailers and to maintain access control and equipment cleanliness. You will interact with truck drivers and customers, operate ticketing software, and perform routine inspections of silos and load-out systems.

The role requires basic math, English proficiency, and a willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions. Some experience with inventory management and safety procedures is expected.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
• Understanding inventory and complexities of multiple silos.
• 1+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add/subtract/multiply/divide) in all units of measure.

Responsibilities

• Load finished dry product onto trailers using plant load out and ticketing software.
• Direct trucks and loading at the appropriate spout with courtesy and professionalism.
• Conduct field inspections of equipment and silo inventory multiple times per shift.
• Monitor and record dry sand inventory levels hourly; verify against level indicators.
• Maintain cleanliness of the plant office, floors, machines and shelves.
• Work with the logistics coordinator during Transload operations.
• Adhere to Safety & Operations SOPs and report issues promptly.

Job description

Responsible for loading finished dry product onto 18 wheeled trailers via the plant load out and ticketing software. Operator must have good customer relation skills and patience to deal with logistics challenges. This position is also responsible for maintaining truck scale cleanliness and inspection of the silo and load out systems; aid in maintenance when appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Obtain loading information from inbound trucks to include product, amount, and purchase order
• Be courteous and prompt while directing trucks and loading product at the appropriate spout
• Act friendly towards customers and truck drivers, and uphold a high level of professionalism
• Perform field inspection of equipment and silo inventory multiple times per shift
• Monitor dry sand inventory levels and record hourly; verify levels reported by level indicators
• Keep dry plant office clean and in order
• Sweep/vacuum floors, machines, and shelves
• Make sure tools, safety gear, and office supplies are put back after being used - Refill water jug and plastic cups - Remove trash every shift
• Work closely with logistics coordinator while running dry sand to Transload during unit trains
• Adheres to Safety & Operations Standard Operating Procedures and other related policies
• Reports on equipment maintenance and operational issues
• May work with small hand tools
• Performs equipment and site cleanup
• Receives, comprehends and carries out both written and verbal instructions

JOB SKILLS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• One year certificate from college or technical school preferred
• Understanding inventory and complexities of multiple silos
• 1+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Speaks, reads & writes fluent English - Bilingual a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work is performed inside and outside of the processing plant facility
• Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions
• Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 70 pounds
• Position also requires bending, stooping and crouching on a regular basis
