Job summary

DelDOT is seeking a livestock cruelty investigator to protect Delaware’s cattle, sheep, goats, swine, horses, poultry, and other livestock through humane investigations and education. The role includes responding to complaints about livestock, evaluating exotic animal permits, and enforcing state animal welfare laws.

Requirements include prior investigation experience, ability to analyze information, and the capacity to work with diverse communities.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in conducting investigations including interviews and evidence gathering.
• One year of experience evaluating information to advise on alleged or probable violations of laws, rules or regulations.
• One year of experience providing clear, prompt and accurate information to respond to and resolve complaints.
• Six months' experience in civil, criminal, or administrative proceedings such as giving testimony before boards/commissions/authorities, preparing evidence or managing cases.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations of suspected violations and enforce applicable laws and regulations.
• Collect and evaluate evidence including records and documents.
• Conduct witness interviews to obtain facts and information.
• Prepare investigative reports documenting findings and actions taken.
• Testify or present evidence before boards, commissions, or courts as required.
• Deliver customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
