Job summary

H2ajobs in Mississippi is seeking a livestock farmhand to feed, water and care for the animals daily, monitor supplies, and assist with births and vaccination when needed. You will inspect stock, keep pastures clean, and move livestock between grazing areas in all weather.

Qualifications

• Physically able to bend, stoop, and stand for long periods.
• Willing to work extended hours and holidays as needed.
• Background checks and drug testing may occur after employment.
• Felony convictions may lead to termination.

Responsibilities

• Feed, water and care for the livestock and monitor food and water supplies.
• Maintain fences, pens, stalls and all areas that contain livestock safe and in the best possible conditions for the animals.
• Examine animals daily to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain.
• Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment.
• Move equipment or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks and trailers.
