Job summary

KTLA is seeking a Part-time Production Stage Manager / Grip to oversee live broadcasts and studio productions. You will manage run of show, cues, props, and staging for daily news and special events in a fast-paced studio environment.

Work with producers, directors, and control room to keep logistics in real time, supervise all set changes, and ensure safety and readiness of the studio for live or breaking news. IATSE membership is required or anticipated.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of professional experience in live television stage management and grip.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Must be an effective leader and motivate people.
• Able to work under the pressure of a live broadcast.
• Strong understanding of video and audio production equipment and capabilities.
• Working knowledge of News operating systems including ENPS is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office/Outlook.
• Must make quick decisions and give accurate instructions to stage personnel during live broadcasts.
• Prop and grip experience required.
• Team player and able to lead a team.
• Must be willing to join IATSE.
• Willing to work varied shifts including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Stage manage daily news and other productions, including special events.
• Manage run of show on stage, including cues, set changes, props, and talent positions.
• Oversee all staging logistics on and off camera.
• Coordinate staging setups with the crew before live broadcasts.
• Review Facilities Sheets with producers for props and staging needs.
• Meet daily with producers/directors to verify upcoming segments' staging requirements.
• Communicate with Control Room to update logistics in real time.
• Organize and supervise all set changes and furnishings.
• Ensure studio is prepped for live broadcasts and breaking news.
• Maintain staging areas, including set elements, dressings, flooring, and furnishings.
• Contribute to studio support operations and maintain a safe workspace.
