Job summary

Qualifications

Supervises the team responsible for the day-to-day operations for company farms, flock health and performance, facility maintenance, data accuracy, and continuous improvement efforts. Provides hands-on leadership, ensures compliance with best management practices, and supports operational excellence through coaching, accountability, and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities
  1. 1. Supervises the day-to-day activities of a team of entry level individual contributors. Provides guidance, coaching, and support to ensure successful completion of tasks. Participates in HR activities such as hiring, terminations, performance management, goal setting, team member development, scheduling, etc. Enforces systems, policies, and procedures.
  2. 2. Addresses employee relations concerns as they arise.
  3. 3. Works hands-on with farm employees and provides coverage for weekend rotations as needed.
  4. 4. Provides training and ongoing support to reinforce best management practices, high standards, and positive employee behaviors.
  5. 5. Monitors turkey health, environment, performance, feed, flock records, and related operational factors.
  6. 6. Implements sanitation, disease prevention, medication administration, necropsy, diagnostic sample transport, testing support, and pest and rodent management programs.
  7. 7. Maintains company farm facilities, equipment, and grounds by performing or coordinating repairs and maintenance with internal staff and outside service providers.
  8. 8. Verifies, records, and maintains accurate farm data, including weekly mortalities, feed deliveries, flock records, and test flock information.
  9. 9. Implements initiatives to improve farm quality and efficiency and provide feedback or recommendations based on inspection results.
  10. 10. Interprets observations, identifies opportunities for improvement, and communicates resource needs, concerns, and recommendations to management.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Associate degree or related agricultural coursework
  • Experience in farm, poultry, livestock, agriculture, or production leadership
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions & Travel Requirements
  • Work will be performed in a variety of conditions. Occasionally work is remote and primarily in a farm environment including working outdoors in seasonal conditions with live animals and at times in dusty environments. This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment while in the farm environment. This individual may be working around sick or diseased animals where additional precautions may need to be taken. For remote work, the employee must have a dedicated workspace to safely setup and use assigned IT equipment, preferably free from distractions. The employee is responsible for ensuring adequate internet service is available when working remotely (the recommended minimum speed is 20mb download and 5mb upload).
  • The noise level of the farm environment is usually moderate. Showering in and out of farm locations may be required.
  • Regional daily travel between company farms required (i.e., Liberal and Bronaugh, MO).
