Hearst Television in California is seeking a Master Control Operator / Newscast Director to join the hybrid team supporting live broadcasts. The role focuses on master control operations while developing directing skills, with training provided.

The successful candidate will monitor channels, manage automation playlists, ensure FCC compliance, troubleshoot issues, and support live newscasts, reporting to the Operations Manager and Engineering Director; schedule varies.

Qualifications

• Strong computer skills with Windows-based applications and broadcast software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced live production environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor multiple program streams for accurate on-air presentation.
• Coordinate live and recorded programming for broadcast.
• Execute, edit, and maintain automation playlists.
• Operate Florical automation and related broadcast systems.
• Acquire, ingest, and prepare programming and promos for air.
• Monitor signal quality and FCC compliance.
• Document operational readings and logs.
• Troubleshoot and report issues affecting on-air operations.
• Support live newscast directing and production during newscasts.
