Job summary

Kean University in New Jersey invites applications for Residence Hall Director opportunities in the Office of Residence Life. The 12-month, live-in professional position supervises resident staff and oversees housing for 250–1,000 residents, aiming to foster academic excellence and community within the hall.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience; a Master’s may substitute. Evening/weekend hours and on-campus residency are required; travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with one year of professional experience in housing and residence life or related student affairs
• Master's degree may substitute for the one year of experience
• Experience with residence hall student development, facilities operations and residence life programs is preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills; proven leadership; computer literate

Responsibilities

• Select, supervise, train and evaluate student staff (RA, DA, CA)
• Provide developmental opportunities through programming and advisement
• Handle administrative tasks, crisis intervention and conflict resolution
• Participate in on-call system and committees integral to Residence Life program
• Create an environment conducive to academic excellence and community in the living environment
