Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. Couples reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision for a group of 8–13 students.

Responsibilities include daily supervision, managing routines, administering medications, driving to activities, and leading devotions and Sunday Chapel. Initially they support various homes on a nine-on/three-off cycle, then transition to a placed home with the same students.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples married at least two years.
• Both spouses must be age 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Comfort leading daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff are role models.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning engaging developmental/recreational events.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
• Initially support various student homes on a nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off; transition to a placed houseparent.
